Moreover, in a recently conducted two year analysis of environmental inspection data, the EPA found that 81% of all firms in Taiwan can currently comply with the 1998 effluent standards. As a result, control values will not be readjusted again in the near future.
Nonetheless, if the EPA discovers that a firm is properly operating wastewater treatment equipment but is still having trouble complying with the standards, the firm may be granted special-case status, and the possibility of opening new standard sub-categories will be assessed.
