A DVD documentary was also produced to record the entire event process. The invitation of debate topics phase was organized through a wide-based invitation from professionals working in the area of resources recycling. Final selection of topics was carried out through voting to ensure topics chosen for the competition represent major issues in this area. The design of the competition was to provide the opportunity for all participating teams to enjoy in-depth discussions of the topics. This is facilitated by the design to use different topics for each round of the competition so as to include a wider scope of discussion. Finally the production of a DVD documentary recorded not only the process of the competition but also the highlights of the event. The documentary also provided a reference for the organization of similar activities in the future.
The primary purpose of the Environmental Cup Resources Recycling Debate Competition organized by the Environmental Protection Administration is to advance the awareness of the important of resources recycling. This is of particular importance because public policy often requires an extended period of time to formulate and to find common understanding among stakeholders and the general public. Through this debate competition all members of the participating teams would become potential seed for the proliferation of resources recycling policy. The competition also demonstrated the determination of the Government to protect our environment.
