Since there is no singular regulation or competent authority to apply a general and coherent management scheme that apply to all the chemicals placing on the market in Taiwan. The project has proposed the “Chemical Substances Control Act” with a total of 36 articles. The draft includes provisions on substance registration, assessment, information collection, disclosure and sharing.
The project examined the content of Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals, and the enforcement actions taken by the European Union based on “Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals”, and “Regulation on Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Chemical Substances and Mixtures”. The materials compiled can be used as a reference for future policy review.
